We are not eye care professionals

VESPER is a retailer. We are not an optician, optometrist or ophthalmologist, and nothing on this site is medical advice, an eye examination, a diagnosis or a treatment recommendation. Information about our products is general and is not tailored to your eyes. If your vision changes, if you have discomfort, headaches, eye strain or difficulty seeing at night, or if you are unsure what you need, please see a qualified eye care professional. Do not delay getting advice because of anything you read here.

Our eyewear is non-prescription

Except for the magnification you select on our reading glasses, nothing we sell is made to a prescription or corrects a refractive error. Our fit-over sunglasses are designed to be worn over your own prescription glasses; they do not replace them. They are not safety glasses, impact-rated eye protection or personal protective equipment, and they should not be used for work, shooting sports, or any task requiring certified eye protection.

Reading glasses

Our readers are ready-made. Both lenses carry the same magnification, and they do not correct astigmatism, a difference in strength between your two eyes, or any medical condition. Choosing a magnification yourself is not an eye test. An eye examination checks for conditions that have nothing to do with reading comfort, and buying readers is not a reason to skip one.

Night driving glasses

Our night driving glasses have a yellow tint. The tint can raise apparent contrast in low light, and some drivers report that oncoming headlights feel less uncomfortable to look at. We want to be straightforward about the limits of that: tinted night driving glasses are not a medical device, and they are not proven to improve night vision or driving safety. Independent studies have not found a measurable benefit, and any tint reduces the total amount of light reaching your eye. Do not treat them as a fix for trouble seeing at night, do not wear them in place of a corrective prescription, and do not wear any tinted lens if it makes driving harder for you. If night driving is difficult, see an eye care professional.

Lens and product claims

Descriptions such as polarized, UV400, anti-glare and anti-fog describe the intended construction of the product as supplied to us. UV400 refers to filtering ultraviolet light up to 400 nanometres. A polarized lens reduces glare reflected from flat surfaces such as water, snow or roadway; it can also make some LCD screens, including certain dashboard displays, harder to read. No sunglass lens makes it safe to look directly at the sun, and none should be used to view a solar eclipse.

Colours, images and measurements

Product photographs are taken under studio lighting, and colours vary between screens, so a frame or lens tint may not look exactly as it does on your monitor or phone. Measurements are approximate and may vary slightly between production batches. Where a photograph shows a product being worn, it is there to show scale and styling and is not a promise of how it will fit your face or your own glasses.

Availability, prices and promotions

Prices are in U.S. dollars and may change without notice. We try to keep availability and pricing accurate, but errors happen; if we cannot fulfil an order at the price shown, we will contact you and you may cancel for a full refund. Where a product shows a crossed-out comparison price, it refers to a higher price at which the item has been offered. Promotions run for the period stated and may be withdrawn or changed, and any conditions attached to an offer are shown with the offer.

Shipping Protection

Shipping Protection is an optional service we provide ourselves. It is not an insurance policy and it is not underwritten by an insurer. It covers only the order it was purchased with, on the terms set out in our Shipping policy and Refund policy.

Where customer reviews or photographs appear on this site, they are the views and experiences of the people who wrote them. They are not our claims about a product, and one person's result does not predict yours.
